Looney's Tavern
Picture below, Lakeshore Water Sport Resort, about a mile down from Looney's Tavern Enterinment Park, Double Springs, Al. Park has been closed for some time and is for sale. Historical marker is the site of "Looneys Tavern". It was owned by: William Bauch Looney (1827----after 1870). Father, Mosses Looney: Mother, Mary Guest Looney: Wife, Senie Ellen Penn. There was a meeting on July 4, 1861at the tavern of about 2500 people who voted "The free state of Winston County" and it is still known as that today.
